Honor the life of an animal advocate with a special gift

Thank you for being a friend to animals in need

Betty had a special way of capturing the attention and hearts of people from each generation. She spent so much of her life entertaining the public with her witty and endearing roles in television and film.

I was not at all surprised to learn that she was also an incredible advocate and friend to animals of all shapes and sizes. At a young age Betty developed a love for the animals on her parents farm and it sparked a lifelong passion. She supported many nonprofits through volunteerism, fundraising, donating, and recording public service announcements. Betty supported the efforts of Guide Dogs for the Blind for many years and even co-authored two books about guide dogs. In the early 70's she hosted a show called "The Pet Set" where she interviewed celebrities about their pets while discussing animal care and wildlife preservation.

Betty believed that those she loved throughout her life would be there to greet her when she passed, including the many animals she cared for.

The Betty White Challenge is encouraging people across the world to make a $5 donation to their local animal rescue or shelter in honor of her 100th birthday on January 17th.
