Each year HSAR participates in a magical tradition called Giving Tuesday. It is the most important fundraising day of the year for nonprofits across the world. Giving Tuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.

This November 30th we hope that you will join us in raising $10,000 for the dogs we love- for the ones who have been abused, neglected, left behind and now have a chance at true happiness.

Your gift will allow us to provide essential care for dogs of all ages and breeds, as well as dogs with special needs.

Funds raised this month will also help us provide for dogs who need more time. You may recognize the names of a few dogs who have been in and out of our facility for a year or more- Jezzy, Freckles, Tank, and Sophie. Our promise to them is that they will never run out of time and that they will never suffer again. They will enjoy each day with us until they find the homes that are right for them. Recently a few of our longer stay or special needs dogs have found their perfect homes and we are overjoyed. We believe there is a family or a person out there for every dog.

Supporting our nonprofit this Giving Tuesday means that when our community is struggling through a horrific tragedy, such as the Dixie fire, we will be there to take in evacuated animals for families in need and donate supplies.

The mission of our nonprofit started over 20 years ago when a few people who cared a whole lot came together and sparked a lasting and worthwhile movement in Plumas and Lassen counties. It wasn't long ago that 400 animals a year were being euthanized in Plumas County alone. HSAR founders saw the need for a facility where animals could remain safe, receive medical attention, and undergo a spay or neuter surgery before being adopted into loving homes. They made it happen with the help of an entire community. We wouldn't be where we are today without the kindness and generosity of our supporters.

Let's save more dogs and make this our biggest Giving Tuesday yet!
